You might not be familiar with the name Eric Ruth, but you’ve probably seen one of his games before; the official video game of The Angry Video Game Nerd, aptly titled “The Angry Video Game” and a demake of Valve’s Left 4 Dead called “Pixel Force Left 4 Dead” are just two of the productions attributed to his name. Both are classic, NES-style games, which makes this latest creation somewhat of an oddity: it’s an HD remake of Capcom’s purposefully retro Mega Man 9, and boy does it look awesome.
You can check out a video of the game in action below. It’s not actually running in “high definition”, per say, but the smooth graphics put a whole new spin on the game anyway. Unfortunately, you’ll probably never get to play this fan-made version of Mega Man 9 “due to Capcom now knowing about the product, difficulties in collision detection (stupid Game Maker) in Jewel Man’s stage, immense loading times, and a lack of time for such a hefty project”. You can also check out the creator’s website at ericruthgames.com, and some further full-resolution screenshots are in the video description on the YouTube video page.
